They Might Be Music Theory

I’ve been listening to this song since I bought the album “Flood” in the Strawberries record store in my hometown in 1991 shortly after they had used Istanbul (not Constantinople) and Particle Man on an episode of Tiny Toon Adventures, and it never gets old.

Maybe it’s because the Johns use timeless themes in their lyrics.

Maybe it’s because it’s just fun and doesn’t actually make any sense.

Or maybe it’s because the song is barely three minutes long but has EIGHTEEN KEY CHANGES.

They Might Be Giants are musical geniuses whose talent will never be matched.
